More Republican Logic

We've seen how militant "pro-life" Republicans are when it comes to stem cell research and the "brain dead" such as Terry Schiavo. A "life's a life," they say.

And yet, with over 2,000 Americans killed in Iraq, 17,000 wounded, and tens of thousands - perhaps hundreds of thousands - innocent Iraqi casualties, we never hear a peep out of them.

Why is that?

Ironically, the only ones expressing outrage at such an enormous loss of life in Iraq are those evil "baby killing liberals" who "murdered" Mrs. Schiavo.

In fact, "pro-lifers" have the nerve to actually justify all this death and destruction by saying "Saddam Hussein was captured," even though he didn't have WMDs and wasn't a threat (all of a sudden Republicans give a hoot about the "poor suffering Iraqi's"? Since when have Republicans given a hoot about anyone?!).

And if that's not bad enough, they ridicule anyone who wants to "cut and run" because that's a sign of weakness, something only "liberals" do.

How dare they even suggest risking someone else's "life" so George Bush can "save face."

What chutzpah. What arrogance. What hypocrisy. What stupidity!

Also, how can these militant "pro-lifers" - who supposedly "value life" - oppose stem cell research which could lead to treatments for those living with a variety of medical conditions including heart disease, Alzheimer's and paralysis?

What kind of logic is this?!

So let me see if I have this straight: it's alright to start an unnecessary war that turns into a colossal disaster that kills American and Iraqi life. But it's wrong to destroy microscopic stem cells that would help the living live, and wrong to let a "brain dead" woman in a "permanent vegetative state" die in peace.

Yup, makes sense to me!

But wait, there's more!

Over the years, the "pro-life" (and pro-gun...yea, that makes sense) Republican Party has slashed evil "big government" programs that help poor women raise their children, such as AFDC, WIC and welfare.

Does that make any sense?

As militant and outspoken as "pro-lifers" are to ban abortions, save stem cells and force feed Mrs. Schivao, you'd think they'd be just as militant and just as outspoken when it comes to funding these important social programs.

Well, why aren't they? Where have they been all these years? Heck, why have they called for cutting these evil "big government" programs in the first place?

So let me see if I have this one straight: "big government" should force feed the "clinically dead" contrary to a family's wishes, stem cells should not be destroyed, and abortions should be banned because, well, a "life's a life."

And yet when it comes to housing, feeding and nurturing "life," you're on your own.

Yup, makes sense to me!

You know, maybe if these programs weren't cut, and in fact funded properly so poor pregnant women would have the resources to raise their children, more of them would choose "life." But try explaining that to pathologically hypocritical "pro-life" Republicans whose logic and common sense is so far up their ass that they think the American lives lost in Iraq haven't been in vain.

So don't even try to figure out these "pro-life" Republicans - it can't be done. They only care about the unborn and "clinically dead." And if you're somewhere in the middle, they don't give a damn.

What kind of logic is that?
